Apollo Tyres hopes to double exports to EuropeWith the new Chennai facility, Apollo Tyres Ltd plans to double its exports to Europe to 100,000 tyres a month in around six months time. The Netherlands based Apollo Vredestein would play a key role as there are plans that its production capacity would be tweaked to 6.5 million tyres a year which is in excess of its current rated capacity of 6 million tyres. Apollo’s current exports to Europe in which Vredestein plays a key role have touched 50,000 tyres a month in this quarter and it hopes to touch the mark of 100,000 in the first quarter of 2012 keeping in mind the rush for winter tyres in Europe during that period.
