Emtelle Holdings: Growing fibre networks
Emtelle is a name to be reckoned with in the ducted network solutions, blown fibre solutions, fibre-flow and broadband networks space. Extending its manufacturing capabilities? possibilities, Emtelle Holdings BV, from the Netherlands, has recently formed a strategic alliance with Gujarat based Parixit Industries, a move that has helped the company to expand its product portfolio and geographic spread.
Growing through India
Post an exploration of complementary possibilities for locating in India, Sanjeev Kumar, Group Chief Executive, Emtelle cites the reasons for the final choice, “Emtelle was looking at the rapidly growing Indian market vide an acquisition or partnership with an existing Indian company operating with complementary product lines. This entity would then be the base for manufacturing in India, both for the domestic markets as well as for exports into neighbouring countries. Emtelle established contact with investment bankers specifying the areas of interest, and from the short list received, Parixit was selected.”
Another aspect that worked in favour of the stake acquisition was the location of the manufacturing facility. With Emtelle considering India as a base for easy access to the SAARC and Middle East countries, setting up in Gujarat allowed for convenient access to port facilities.
The relationship is likely to see investments of a capex of Rs 500-600 million (according to the website of Parixit Industries) in the next two to three years. Together they will work on manufacturing and marketing a range of micro-irrigation systems, PE pressure pipes in addition to Emtelle’s networking solutions in the infrastructure, power and telecom sectors for both Indian and international markets.

Emtelle has a global presence, directly or indirectly, in important FttX (Fibre to the X) markets, with their complete passive infrastructure solutions in the domain. Their other strengths are uPVC ducting and HDPE sub ducting. Their fibre-flow technology allows fibre to be blown into existing tubes. This eliminates additional civil work and permits customers to get service only when required. Besides manufacturing, Emtelle provides training in Installation & Design and Design & Engineering.
In terms of future plans, Emtelle will be setting up additional offices in India and will also look at more such strategic acquisitions.
